THANK YOU

Posted by:

I would like to take this opportunity to send out a great big heartfelt thank you to all those who supported me during my campaign for city council in Somerset Ward over the past ten months.  Although we did not get the results we were hoping for, I am extremely proud of the work that my team and I have done and happy to have met so many new people across our community.

I would like to thank my incredible and very large family for their unconditional love and support.  I love you all so much and look forward to spending more time with you.  I’ve missed you so.  Mom, I know I have a long to-do list after telling you on a few occasions, I promise I will get to it right after the election.

I would also like to thank my core team Laurent, Craig, JD and Debbie for being by my side and encouraging me from start to finish.  You were incredible.  A very special thanks goes to Mauricio Olivares and Trevor Prevost who were not only part of the team (campaign manager and official agent respectively) but also my roommates.  I know I wasn’t always the easiest person to live with so thank you for your love and patience.

To my friends, thank you for your support and for your understanding when I couldn’t make it to a party, a movie, for lunch, going out for a quick drink or to just hang out from time to time.  I look forward to re-connecting with all of you.

I have NO REGRETS whatsoever, worked as hard as I could and ran an honest and respectful campaign but unfortunately it simply wasn’t in the cards.

That said, rest assured that this is not the last you will see of Denis Schryburt.   I will continue to work just as hard as I always have for my community, that will never change.  In fact, during the campaign I held on to my volunteer commitments with Bruce House, the Eldercare Foundation of Ottawa, the Canadian Diabetes Association, Swirl & Twirl and organized groups of volunteers for the Shepherds of Good Hope.  I also have a couple of new projects that I will start work on this week of which of course you will all hear about very soon.

I offer my congratulations to Catherine McKenney on her win and wish her all the best.  Catherine and I were friends going into the race and will continue being friends moving forward.  When I called Catherine after the results were in, I offered her my help in anyway I could.

Finally, I will share with you the sage advice I received from my dad a few hours before he passed away just over two years ago. If there is anything that you always wanted to do but for whatever reason are not doing, don’t hesitate, just get up and do it and be proud for doing it no matter what the final results are.

Take care everyone and will see you all very soon.

With love and pride,
Denis
